Get Web Page Text
Get Web Page Text
Productivity ⚡ tab → Web group
Fetches a web page and extracts its readable text — copy it to the clipboard, or create a new Flare topic from it. Useful for pulling reference material, legacy web content, or a knowledge-base article into your project without the HTML noise.
To get a page's text
- Click Get Web Page Text on the Productivity ⚡ tab.
- Enter the web address (the
https://prefix is added for you if missing). - Choose:
- Copy Text — the page's readable text is put on your clipboard, one line per paragraph. Navigation, scripts, ads, and other page furniture are stripped.
- Create Topic... — a new topic is created from the page: the page title becomes the topic title and h1, headings/paragraphs/lists/quotes are carried over as clean XHTML, and a
Source:line with the URL is appended. You choose the file name and location (starting in your Content folder), and the topic opens in the editor.
Notes
- Text only: images, links, tables and formatting are not carried over (table text comes along as plain lines).
- Pages larger than 5 MB, login-protected pages, and pages that render entirely with JavaScript yield little or nothing — you get a clear message rather than a stack trace.
- The created topic is not added to any TOC — drag it in where it belongs.
- Respect copyright: only import content you have the right to reuse.
