Convert Topic to Topic + Snippet

Convert Topic to Topic + Snippet · Batch Convert Topics to Snippets...

Productivity ⚡ tab → Snippets group

Moves the body content after the first h1 into a new snippet next to the topic and replaces it with a snippet block — so the content can be reused elsewhere while the topic keeps its title and place in the TOC.

Convert the current topic

  1. Open the topic.
  2. Click Convert Topic to Topic + Snippet.
  3. Everything after the first h1 moves into a new <TopicName>.flsnp created next to the topic (a numeric suffix is added if that name is taken), and a snippet block takes its place in the topic.

If the topic has no h1, the whole body content is moved. Topics that are empty, have no content after the h1, or already consist of a single snippet block are skipped with an explanation.

Convert many topics at once

  1. Click Batch Convert Topics to Snippets....
  2. Pick the topics in the file dialog (the picker starts in your Content folder).
  3. A progress dialog shows the conversion; each file is backed up before it is changed.
  4. A summary reports how many topics were converted and lists any skipped files with the reason.

Notes

  • The snippet reuses the topic's namespaces and body attributes, so conditions on the body survive.
  • Relative links and image paths inside the moved content are kept correct.
  • Nothing updates other files that deep-link into the moved content (for example links to bookmarks below the h1) — check those manually.
  • Per-file backups are your undo; see Backup and Restore.
  • To see where snippets are used afterwards, run the Snippet Usage Report.
